Rep. Tyrone Yates, of the 33^rd Ohio House district, resigned his position this week to accept an appointment from Gov. Ted Strickland as a Hamilton County Municipal Court judge. The House Democratic Caucus will meet to choose his successor. Cincinnati Councilwoman Alicia Reece is considered a strong candidate to replace him.

Also this week, Sen. Mark Wagoner resigned his position as Senate Majority Whip. He reportedly has decided not to seek re-election to the Senate when his current term expires in 2012.
