FREE SPEECH.....AT LAST!

In a landmark decision released this week, the U.S. Supreme Court affirmed the right of a corporation to use corporate dollars to fund advertisements supporting or opposing a political candidate. 

 

PROPONENTS PRAISE THIRD FRONTIER PROGRAM

This week, the Senate Finance & Financial Institutions Committee heard proponent testimony on the $950 million, five-year renewal and expansion of the Third Frontier.

 

NATIONAL HEALTH CARE REFORM -- DEAD OR ALIVE?

After months of dominating headlines, sparking rowdy town hall meetings and creating a buzz across the country, the health care reform proposals pending in the U.S. House and Senate are on hold for the time being.

Rep. Tyrone Yates, of the 33rd Ohio House district, resigned his position this week to accept an appointment from Gov. Ted Strickland as a Hamilton County Municipal Court judge.  The House Democratic Caucus will meet to choose his successor.  Cincinnati Councilwoman Alicia Reece is considered a strong candidate to replace him.

 

Also this week, Sen. Mark Wagoner resigned his position as Senate Majority Whip.  He reportedly has decided not to seek re-election to the Senate when his current term expires in 2012.
