BUDGET AGREEMENT FINALLY STRUCK

After nearly two months of contentious negotiations, the Ohio Senate and House finally passed legislation to close an $851 million state budget shortfall. 

 

HEALTH CARE REFORM ON THE BRINK

The Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, also known as the Senate health care reform bill, is teetering on the brink of passage in the U.S. Senate.

Last week, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (U.S. EPA) prounced that greenhouse gases (GHG) threaten public health and welfare.

The Ohio General Assembly began its holiday recess this week after approving a number of bills including one that closes an $851 million hole in the current biennial budget (see separate story).  No further floor sessions will be held until after the first of the year.  To view a tentative schedule of voting floor sessions for the first half of 2010, click here.

The Ohio Chamber will suspend publication of Legislative Update until the general assembly returns in January.
