PAYDAY LENDERS: REGULATE OR ELIMINATE?

 

This was the recurring question raised by some legislators and a payday lender during a House committee hearing on legislation billed as “closing loopholes in payday lending”. 

 

REDISTRICTING LEGISLATION PASSES SENATE

 

In a strictly partisan vote, the Ohio Senate sent legislation to the Ohio House that is aimed at removing partisanship from the process used to create Ohio legislative and congressional districts. 

 

VOTERS MAY GET SAY ON SLOT MACHINES

 

The Ohio Supreme Court delivered a blow this week to Gov. Strickland’s effort to raise nearly $1 billion for the ailing state budget by allowing the installation of Video Lottery Terminals (slot machines) at Ohio race tracks.
