WORKERS’ COMP BUDGET HEADED TO CONFERENCE COMMITTEE

The two-year Bureau of Workers’ Compensation (BWC) budget drew considerable attention this week when Senate Republicans adopted several pro-business amendments before sending the bill back to the House for concurrence.

PAYDAY LENDERS IN THE BULL'S EYE AGAIN

An industry that once had 1,600 stores in Ohio and employed over 6,000 Ohioans is again the target of proposed restrictions that would negatively affect its business.

The conference committee on HB 1, the state’s FY 2010-11 budget, did not meet this week.  Although no meetings have yet been scheduled, the conference committee is expected to formally convene by the middle of next week and work through the weekend to resolve the many items of difference in the executive, House and Senate versions of the bill.
