As Ohio’s jobless rate climbs to 8.8%, the federal stimulus package will help unemployed workers weather the current economic storm. 

OHIO TO USE $5.8 BILLION IN FEDERAL STIMULUS TO BALANCE BUDGET

HB 1, the state’s biennial operating budget for FY 2010-11, will use more than $5.8 billion in federal stimulus funds to help balance it over the next two years. 

This week, majority House Democrats unveiled the substitute version of HB 2, the FY 2010-11 transportation budget, in the House Finance & Appropriations Committee. 

This week Speaker Armond Budish appointed Rep. Linda Bolon (D-E. Palestine) to temporarily chair the Human Services Subcommittee of the House Finance & Appropriations Committee.  She replaces Rep. Edna Brown (D-Toledo) who will be temporarily absent from the Statehouse while she cares for an ill family member.
