Governor Ted Strickland presented his State of the State address this week, declaring that Ohio is "steadfast", despite forecasts of lower state revenue in 2011 than seven years earlier.
GOVERNOR ANNOUNCES PROGRAMS FOR UNINSURED OHIOANS
In his State of the State address this week, Governor Strickland announced health reforms that aim to extend coverage to 110,000 uninsured Ohioans.
GOVERNOR WANTS CHILD-CENTERED EDUCATION SYSTEM
In his State of the State address, Gov. Ted Strickland outlined his vision for Ohio's education future - a system tailored to innovatively teach timeless core subjects, such as math and science, as well as 21st century skills such as critical thinking and problem solving.

 | | Announcement of the chairs and members of the 128th General Assembly's standing committees is still eagerly awaited. But, this week a list of the House standing committees was approved. The list includes a few name changes and several new committees. The new committees are Consumer Affairs and Faith-based Initiatives. Speaker Budish's strong desire to focus on economic development and urban revitalization was reflected in the reorganization and renaming of committees to include Economic Development, Environment and Brownfield Development, and Housing and Urban Revitalization committees.
