NIAR to showcase laboratories at Kansas State Fair

The National Institute for Aviation Research at Wichita State University will showcase several of its laboratories in the Kansas Technology Building at the Kansas State Fair in Hutchinson Sept. 8-17.

The building, sponsored by the Kansas Technology Enterprise Corporation, will be open to the general public during fair hours and will house exhibits by NIAR, KTEC, the Kansas BioScience Initiative and the WSU College of Engineering.

NIAR's Advanced Joining, Aerodynamics, Aging Aircraft, CAD/CAM, Composites, Crash Dynamics, Full-Scale Structural Testing, Human Factors, Structures and Virtual Reality laboratories will participate in the event and have prepared exhibits to demonstrate the work performed in the labs and educate the public about them.

Some of the items that will be on display include an F-16 forward fuselage section, a Raytheon Hawker 4000 fuselage shell, crash test dummies and actual wind tunnel models courtesy of Raytheon Aircraft Company, Cessna Aircraft Company and Bombardier Aerospace/Learjet.

NIAR employees will be on-site during fair hours to discuss NIAR and explain laboratory capabilities. If you're at the fair, stop by and say hello, and learn about the groundbreaking aviation research, testing and certification that occurs here every day.
