Robotics competition gets Missouri students excited about science
Missouri students are being exposed to science and engineering through an international robotics program. The FIRST Robotics Competition melds scientific competition and cooperation with a fun atmosphere. Teams from around Missouri, including this team from Parkway South
High School recently competed in regional events held in arenas in St. Louis and Kansas City. The FIRST program aims to celebrate academic and scientific success much in the way high school sports are currently celebrated.

METS-backed funding has helped schools like New Franklin R-I incorporate new technology. The technology and related training have changed the way the school's 440 students learn as well as alter how the school's educators teach.

Halfway through the Missouri budget process, the funding for METS stands at $1.5 million. While far less than the governor's proposed budget, it is an improvement after a House committee had completely eliminated METS funding.
