Appointments to Statewide Boards and Commissions
| | Leadership Florida endeavors to get its members appointed to statewide boards and commissions by having our Governmental Appointments Chair advocate on your behalf. For the past two years, Diane Carr (XVII), a shareholder and lawyer with Hopping Green & Sams in Tallahassee, has successfully championed the applications of many Leadership Florida members. | You are strongly encouraged to frequently check the vacancy notices posted by the Office of the Governor, by going to www.flgov.com/2007_ boards_commissions.
You can also inquire regarding current vacancies to be filled by the Speaker of the House by calling (850) 488-1450. By going to www.flsenate.gov and clicking on “Legislative Appointments,” you'll see what vacancies currently exist for appointment by the Senate President.
| | Once you find a board or commission you're interested in serving on: 1) determine whether or not you meet the qualifications,
2) complete the application,
3) forward a copy to Diane at dcarr@hgslaw.com, and she'll provide you with suggestions and support your efforts in getting appointed.

Annual Awards Nominations
|
If you have not already, you will soon receive from your Regional Chair, nomination forms for Leadership Florida's Distinguished Member Award and Statewide Community Award. It is our pleasure to announce that those forms, along with the form for Leadership Florida's additional annual leadership award, the LeRoy Collins Lifetime Achievement Award, are available online!
We have asked each region to nominate at least two Leadership Florida members for our Distinguished Member Award and two organizations/entities for our Statewide Community Award. Please send your nominations for these awards to Leadership Florida and we will forward them to your regional councils.
The recipient of the LeRoy Collins Lifetime Achievement award is someone whose leadership extends over a lifetime and we will accept these nominations from a non-regional, statewide approach.
See the sidebar (left) for past recipients of these awards, and to read about the process click here.

 | "Leadership can be good or leadership can be evil. It is vital that we develop leaders who have the right kind of values. As you move forward with your efforts to develop the right kind of leaders in Florida, I know that you will continue to emphasize justice and compassion. I'm sure that Roy Collins would approve and I'm sure he would join me in applauding your efforts to improve our State."
