Leadership Florida Calusa Region's
Rodeo Days
March 7 & 8

Join us in historic Arcadia for the "Grandaddy of 'Em All" - the Arcadia Florida Championship Rodeo. You'll love the constant action and patriotic atmosphere. It's great, clean fun for kids and adults.

The weekend begins with a Leadership Florida reception on Friday night, followed by an exclusive screening of "Cracker," a new film by award-winning director Victor Milt, with music created by Leadership Florida's Mac Martin (XXII).

We'll start Saturday with a dutch treat country buffet breakfast in downtown Arcadia's historic district. The rodeo parade follows at 10:00. After the parade, you can browse the antique shops, then walk over to Mac's real estate office for shuttle service to the rodeo grounds.

At the rodeo, Leadership Florida will have the best seats in the house in our own covered area directly adjacent to the arena, set up by rodeo association chairman Don Hall (XXIV). Mouth-watering barbecue will be served for lunch to get you set for an incredible 2 ½ hours of non-stop rodeo fun. Throughout the morning and afternoon, you (and your younger cowpokes) will be entertained by the notorious Tater Hill Bluff Shootout Gang. Wow, what a day!

After some rest and recuperation, get ready for a light but lively Saturday evening. Jan and Tom  Hollingsworth (XVI) are hosting an old fashion cook out and bonfire in the pasture behind their home.

The price is right too, with tickets for adults available at $35.00 and $25.00 for kids to attend both the rodeo and Saturday's barbeque at the arena.

Author, Author!

In Being the Difference: True Stories of Ordinary People Doing Extraordinary Things to Change the World, author Darius Graham (CLF VII) celebrates more than a dozen men and women that have gone beyond making a difference-rather, they are the difference. A number of these individuals suffered hardships and overcame significant adversity to use their triumphs and successes to help others. Some followed a life-long passion, and still others became so frustrated with a problem or issue in their community that they were compelled to action. Despite the different paths they followed, each took a dynamic approach to serve their fellow man. On a bold and heartfelt mission, this book exemplifies the idea that nothing is impossible and that acts of generosity can and will change the world.

4 Generations:

Where Should We Begin?

Askew Institute
on Politics and Society

February 7-8, 2008

For the first time in American history, we have four different generations working side-by-side in the workplace and in communities.

The vast migration of seniors into Florida and their greater longevity along with the migration and immigration of young families and young adults have positioned Florida as a testing ground for how these "4-generations" interact with one another and the consequences it has for us all.

More information and registration is available on the Askew institute web page (http://askew.clas.ufl.edu/
