ABC'S WOMAN OF THE YEAR CONTEST
Do you know someone who deserves recognition?
(click here for the nomination form)

ABC's Board of Directors is pleased to bring back this recognition program from women company owners and/or their employees.  The program honors women who have served as a role model in the industry and/or the community.  We urge you to take some time and thought and consider who in your office you could nominate for this recognition. If you have any questions contact Danielle Hardy at the chapter's office.

MORE ON SALES TAX EXEMPTION
Download Certificate to quality for sales tax exemption

The increase in the sales tax created a sense of panic among many contractors. Would binding bids submitted by a contractor to a customer prior to January 3rd be exempt from the tax increase? The answer is yes. Stephen Cordi, with Ober, Kaler, Grimes and Shriver was able to secure for the members a blank certificate they can use at the point of sale to obtain the exemption for the sales tax increase prior to January 3, 2008.  The seller's acceptance of these certificates is entirely voluntary, however. If the seller is not willing or able to accept the certificate, the contractor can deduct the tax on his next return if he's filing returns. Or you can apply directly to the Comptroller for a refund on form COT/ST205.

GALA! FEB 2, VISIONARY ART MUSUEM
It's the Best Part of the New Year

Black tie or not black-tie, the choice is up to you. But either way, you will want to put Saturday, February 2 on your calendar. This event has sold out the past several years and we don't expect this year to be any different. The evening will include dancing; a silent and live auction (with 98 Rock's Mickey Cuchiella); and a live band (Mood Swings Big Band). At this year's Gala we will be honoring (posthumously) Blase Cooke with Harkins Builders; Richard Peirce, with RK Peirce, and Bruce Talbot with the Advantage Group. (click here to register).
