THANK YOU BALTIMORE! More than 1300 turn out to attend Rodeo!
 | What a difference a year makes! A year ago, at our inaugural Construction Equipment Rodeo, it rained the entire day, and only 400 people showed up. But given |
it was our first year, we thought 400 in a driving rain was not bad. This year, the weather was clear blue skies in the 60s. And the result? More than 1300 visitors; 48 equipment operator competitors and hundreds and hundreds of children running around, competing in the Lego building contest; having their pictures taken on the equipment and having an amazing time.
The event raised money for Kid's Chance of Maryland, a non-profit charity that provides scholarships for children whose parents were severely injured or killed on the worksite. "We are very hopeful that we will be able to make a very nice donation once all is said and done," said event chair Tom Shelton .
SAFETY DAY: BRING YOUR EMPLOYEES! Oct. 25th event at Modern Equipment Sales & Rental
ABC's Safety Committee will be presenting awards to contractors with the best safety records in Baltimore during this year's annual safety day, held at Modern Equipment Sales & Rental Co. But you will want to arrive at 4 p.m., so you can have your employees participate in safety demonstrations in Emergency Rescue; Fall Protection; Aerial lift and Rough Terrain Forklift Safety Demos. To see a complete list of this year's safety winners and to register for Safety Day, click here.
CHAPTER CLOSES IN ON 600 MARK!
Help ABC recruit a new member between now and 11/30; Win a chance to attend '08 Convention in Puerto Rico!
With a mere 8 new members away from hitting the 600 member plateau, we've decided to let the rest of the membership in on the fun. We will keep it very simple:
If you help us recruit a new member, general contractor, subcontractor or supplier, between now and November 30, we will put your name in a hat. If your name is drawn at the December 13 Holiday Network, you will win an expense-paid trip (air and hotel) to the 2008 National Convention, March 5-9, 2008 at the Caribe Hilton & Puerto Rico Convention Center, San Juan, Puerto Rico.
Rules: the contest is open to any active member of ABC (board members and ABC staff are excluded). To qualify, the new member must list your name on the membership application (see attached). Got questions? Contact Ellen (ellen@abcbaltimore.org). She will give you the tools you need to be successful. Good luck!

WABC Hit Fundrasing Goal at Komen Race
 |
It was a busy weekend for the members of ABC. Helping the Events Committee run the Rodeo on Saturday
|
and organizing the Lego Building Contest, the Women in ABC went back to work the next day, exceeded their fundraising goal of $3,000 this past Sunday at the Annual Susan G. Komen Race/Walk for the Cure. The committee ended up with 50 people. WMAR, Channel 2 and WLIF, 101 FM gave the team a shout out as we passed by their stages. This is the third year that the WABC have participated in this event, which raises money to find a cure for Breast Cancer. | |
