Are You Positioned for a Strong ’07?
Take advantage of ABC’s many training programs
 | If we hear one common request among our members it is whether we know of any project managers out there looking for a job. But the reality is, any project manager or superintendants worth his, or her, salt, already has a job. Those who are |
looking, don’t have a job for a reason – they probably didn’t work out at their last job. An increasing number of contractors understand that recruiting a project manager from another contractor is often a short-term solution at best. Those individuals are often set in their ways and are slow to come around to your way of doing things. The far better solution is to grow your own seasoned project manager. That’s where we might be able to help. Over the years, we’ve developed a comprehensive supervisory training program designed to help you strengthen and grow your own workforce. We have trained literally hundreds of PM’s, superintendents and foremen over the years.
Here is just a snap shot of what we will be offering our members over the next couple of months:
Human Resources Academy; February 6-22; Do you have someone in your office designated the official “HR person" (maybe that person is you)? Are you confident they are familiar with all the unique laws that govern our industry? This 12-hour program will cover construction HR laws; the hiring and firing process; workers comp; policies and procedures and more (click here for more info or contact Lauren Blumberg)
Project Managers Academy; Begins March 6; This is far and away our most popular program. Now in its eighth year, the PMA trains new and aspiring project managers (from general contracting and subcontracting firms alike) in all the critical disciplines that go into making a world-class manager. The class is team-taught by seasoned project managers from curriculum developed by Clemson University’s Construction Management Program. (click here for more info or contact Colleen Hetterman)
Scheduling Academy; Begins April 23; This class was created in response to the requests of members who wanted a follow-up to the Project Managers Academy (minimum requirement to take this class is either to be a graduate of the PMA; or to have at least three years of project management experience). Here the students receive far more than just classroom instruction. The program is designed to work in a workshop type setting where the students receive “real-world” situations. OSHA 10-Hour Training & First-Aid/CPR Certification (English or Spanish); offered every month (click here for more info or contact Mike Barton) ABC has a full-time OSHA Authorized safety trainer on staff. In 2006, ABC trained 1600 ABC member employees in everything from the 10-Hour class to fall protection and confined space. Mike also routinely performs jobsite inspections and reports for member firms.
